Unapologetic
There are so many things to be apologetic for in life. We mis-speak. We forget things. We miss deadlines or due dates. We get angered and say things we shouldn’t. But there is one thing I will always be “un-apologetic” for: My Faith.
My faith fuels me. It has guided me my whole life. This is not to say I haven’t made mistakes. I have, and I’ve tried to learn from them. And I still will make more; after all, I’m human. But my faith goes deeper. I believe in the ultimate forgiveness and sacrifice of Christ. I believe in His plan and path for me; His guidance.
Restore & Reform is UNAPOLOGETICALLY based on my Christian values. R&R is a dream God set on my heart a long time ago, a path of growing as a clinician and then the hard knock to finally make the move to step away from big systems. I followed His calling, and took a leap of faith to step out on my own to make a difference in other’s lives.
I have been feeling God’s urging to make this statement for some time now. In light of recent events, I know it is no longer the time to stay quiet. I don’t ask anyone to believe what I believe. I don’t ask anyone to agree with me. But I also feel called NOT to keep my Faith to myself. So today, I make another leap of faith.
Being unapologetic about my faith does not mean you have to be a Christian (or any other religion) to be a client with R&R. It does mean that the approach R&R takes towards your recovery will be to help honor the amazing abilities of the human body, created in God’s image. Instead of looking for quick fixes, we look at how we can give your body the best opportunity to achieve full potential. Through science, we know full recovery can include gaining mobility or strength, improving control or stability or even helping to restore blood flow and healing cells to an area. Through faith, we trust that our body can achieve these things, though we still have to put in some work to help it.
Christ calls on us to follow the two greatest commandments: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 24:37-39). The first is between me and God. But the second, I set forth to share with others through my work. Again, this does not mean I am the perfect clinician, business owner, etc.
I will make mistakes. I will miss emails. Not every intervention will work as well as I hope or expect. However, my heart is in the right place. The R&R care model is guided by this call to love our neighbors as ourselves. When you come to R&R, know that you will receive the care we would give ourselves and our family. Once you are our client, you ARE family.
